Starting on 1 March 2020 it is that time of year: Las Fallas 2020! During almost three weeks the city is all about this biggest street festival of Spain. But what exactly is Fallas? And what kind of events are there in the city? I put together the highlights of the Fallas programme of 2020 together for you.

UPDATE 13 MAY: Las Fallas has been cancelled because of the corona crisis. Read the news in Spanish (or use Google Translate 😉).


Las Fallas is something special in Valencia. The entire city transforms into a street festival with fun and spectacular activities on a daily basis. Parades, exhibitions, fireworks, big decorative constructions (fallas) throughout the entire city, everything. Below you will find a programme of all festivities. Saturday 29 February

  • 20:00H – Amstel Nit de las Fallas, Fireworks at the port of Valencia

Sunday 1 March

  • 07:20hDespertà Infantil, parade for kids from Carrer de La Pau to Plaza del Ayuntamiento, with mini-firecrackers to wake the city.
  • 07:30hMacroDespertà, parade from Carrer de La Pau to Plaza del Ayuntamiento, with firecrackers to wake the city. This parade ends at Plaza del Ayuntamiento with a short Mascletà, a pyrotechnic show.
  • 12:00h – Musical parade from Plaza de la Virgen to Plaza del Ayuntamiento. There the bands will play “El Fallero”, the theme song of Las Fallas.
  • 14:00hMascletà at Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
  • 20:00hLa Crida, the official opening of Las Fallas at Torres de Serranos, with a pyrotechnic spectacle.

  • 17:30h – Parade of the ninots, during which fallas-groups bring their Ninot to the exposition in the science museum of City of Arts and Sciences, to be judged by a jury. After the parade the first big pieces of the falla at Plaza del Ayuntamiento will arrive.
  • 00:00h – Colored Mascletà at Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

Sunday 8 March

  • 10:00h Cant de l’estoreta in the streets around Plaza del Arbol. A competition in which kids play out the story behind Las Fallas.

Monday 16 March

  • 08:00h – Start of the build of all other fallas.

  • 16:30h – Award ceremony for the children’s fallas on Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
  • 00:00h – Fireworks at the Turia park, at Paseo de la Alameda (between the bridges Puente de la Exposición and Puente de les Flores).

Tuesday 17 March

  • 09:00h – Award ceremony for all fallas at Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
  • 14:00hMascletà at Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
  • 15:30-23:50h – Start of the flower offering L’Ofrenda de flors. From the entire city fallas groups come to Plaza de la Virgen to bring flowers. There these flowers are attached to a wooden construction, which will turn out into a large Maria statue of flowers.
  • 01:00h – Fireworks at the Turia park, at Paseo de la Alameda (between the bridges Puente de la Exposición and Puente de les Flores).

Wednesday 18 March
